Can't select venue from dropdown box

    On the “Add New Event” admin page, I can’t select a previously added venue from the dropdown box. When I click on the
    triangle, the venue options appear, but disappear again as soon as I move the mouse away from the triangle.

    I think there is a conflict with the theme I’m using (Kakia), because I don’t have the same problem with Twenty Twelve.

    Any suggestions?

    I’m posting this here for the benefit of others.

    After inspecting the theme it turns out it the theme was including its own version of jQuery UI (see kakia/functions.php – line 395 at time of writing), rather than the WordPress-bundled copy of jQuery UI. This caused a javascript error on the admin page.

    Altering the theme so that it uses the bundled copies of jQuery and jQuery UI fixes the issue.
